Dealing with ZFS disk usage du command differences PDF
Monday, 13 May 2013
If you run du command ( du -h ./ ) on different partitions/volumes, you might get different result even if you have the same files. For example on a ZFS volume that is set as compressed you might get smaller value when running du command, comparing to a ZFS volume without compression, or a UFS partition.

To get the same value for the same files that are on different type of partitions/volumes run:

  du -sh -A ./

or:

  du -h -A -c ./
