4GB of RAM
HDD FUJITSU MHY2160BH, 2.5 inch, 160 GB, 5400 RPM

Power Consumption 60-65W on peak (when compiling)

make -j2 buildworld        #   compile time = 3315 seconds = 55 minutes, 15 seconds
make -j2 buildkernel KERNCONF=GENERIC   # compile time = 597 seconds = 9 minutes, 57 seconds
cd /usr/ports/databases/mysql56-server && make   # compile time = 425 seconds = 7 minutes, 5 seconds


using C2 CPU power:
make -j2 buildworld        #   compile time = 3628 second = 60 min, 28 seconds
make -j2 buildkernel KERNCONF=GENERIC  # compile time = 531 seconds = 8 minutes, 51 seconds
cd /usr/ports/databases/mysql56-server && make   # compile time = 420 seconds = minutes

with 24G of RAM (instead of 4G)
make -j2 buildworld        #   compile time = 4835 seconds = 80 minutes, 35 seconds

Power Consumption 95 -100W on peak (when compiling)

Compression benchmarks

Compression of a big file generated with:

  dd if=/dev/random of=random.file bs=1m count=8000   (almost 8G file)

After we generate random.file we will run:

  pbzip2 -z random.file  # compress time = 626 seconds = 10 minutes, 26 seconds


Ffmpeg video conversion from mpeg2 to x264

Encoding of infile.mpeg mpeg2 file (DVD format):

   ffmpeg -i infile.mpeg -vcodec libx264 -acodec libfaac -ab 160k -ac 2 -vol 256 -vf yadif -threads 0 outfile.mp4

ffmpeg encode time = 2961 seconds = 49 minutes, 21 seconds

Render Time: 10 minutes, 30 seconds
