Find Serial Number of Your Hard Drive in FreeBSD PDF

If you want to find the serial number of your hard drive in FreeBSD 9.x you can use camcontrol command:

  camcontrol identify ada1

You will get:

get serial number of your hard drive in freebsd

You can also use smartctl tool from smartmontools port/package:

  cd /usr/ports/sysutils/smartmontools
  make install clean; rehash
  smartctl -a /dev/ada0


To see a list of your drives (including flash drives) run:

  camcontrol devlist
