If you want to convert a VMWare image into a VirtualBox image so you could move your VMWare installation to VirtualBox (under FreeBSD for example) you could use command line VBoxManage app from VirtualBox installation:

VBoxManage convertfromraw --format vmdk --variant Standard debian.vmdk debian.vdi

Previous command will convert debian.vmdk into debian.vdi.

In order to run this command you must have VirtualBox installed on FreeBSD:

  cd /usr/ports/emulators/virtualbox-ose
  make install clean ; rehash
