Benchmark Apache HTTP Server in FreeBSD PDF
Thursday, 06 October 2011
For that purpose we will use siege, since Apache's own benchmark tool (ab) is not working properly under FreeBSD.

  cd /usr/ports/benchmarks/siege
  make install clean ; rehash

Then to benchmark Apache server we run:

  siege.config
  siege -b -c 500 -r 5 http://10.0.0.10/blog

Where:
-b : benchmark mode, with no delays
  -c : concurent hits
  -r: number of repetitions

For benchmarking a http server we can also use hammerhead:

  cd /usr/ports/sysutils/hammerhead
  make install clean ; rehash

(... this tutorial is work in progress ...)
