Configure a Jail Installation to Use Different Default Gateway PDF
Saturday, 16 July 2011
Sometimes we don't want our jailed installation (machine) to use our host gateway. In that case we can use multiple routing table feature of FreeBSD that is controlled by setfib utility.

We compile the kernel with (you can use values up to 16):

  options ROUTETABLES=5

Then we edit /etc/rc.conf and add:

  jail_JAILNAME_fib=2

Then you must add a different default route for 2:

  setfib 2 route add default 10.0.0.2

To delete the default route saved on slot 2 we use:

  setfib 2 route delte default 10.0.0.2
