Disable ACPI in FreeBSD PDF
Thursday, 16 June 2011
If you have a laptop that does not support FreeBSD's ACPI you can disable it at boot by choosing 6 when FreeBSD loader menu appears and then:

  unset acpi_load

Also if you want to make this permanent, edit /boot/device.hints and add there:

  hint.acpi.0.disabled="1"

You can also choose at boot time to disable ACPI from boot loader menu.
