A usefull tool from FreeBSD ports for benchmarking your web server is siege.

Install siege:

  cd /usr/ports/benchmarks/siege
  make install clean
  rehash

Create a file urls.txt and add there some urls from your website server that will be used to benchmark/stress your web server:

  http://www.example.com/index.html
  http://www.example.com/file1.html
  http://www.example.com/file2.html
  http://www.example.com/file3.html

You can also use IP of your web server instead of domain name.

Then edit /root/.siegerc file and enable there:

  internet = true
  benchmark = true

Your /root/.siegerc config file will be:

/root/.siegerc
erbose = true
show-logfile = true
logging = true
protocol = HTTP/1.1
chunked = true
cache = false
connection = close
concurrent = 15
delay = 1
accept-encoding = gzip
spinner = true

internet = true
benchmark = true

Then run siege:
