Here is a tip how to change text mode resolution.

Recompile the kernel with:

options VESA
options SC_PIXEL_MODE


Edit /etc/rc.conf and add:

allscreens_flags="-g 100x37 VESA_800x600"

There are also other VESA modes: VESA_132x(25|43|50), for more informatios see man page vidcontrol(1).
