Building FreeBSD Kernel The Old Way PDF
Monday, 17 November 2014
There's other way to build FreeBSD kernel (like it's 4th version or so), few young people know about it. I'll call it the older way.

Let's say we want to build amd64 version. In order to do that we'll run the following commands:

  cd /usr/src/sys/amd64/conf
  cp GENERIC CUSTOMKERNEL
  config CUSTOMKERNEL
  cd cd ../compile/CUSTOMKERNEL
  make cleandepend && make depend
  make && make install

That's it. CUSTOMKERNEL is our modified kernel config file.
